Mark Shriver

Guest Speaker: Mark Shriver

Mark K. Shriver, President of the Save the Children Action Network and Senior Vice President of U.S. Programs at Save the Children is the author of the New York Times and Washington Post bestselling memoir, A Good Man: Rediscovering My Father, Sargent Shriver.  The book chronicles the true successes of Sargent Shriver’s life, as well as his struggles with Alzheimer’s disease towards the end of his life.

Shriver has said the term “caregiver” does not encompass, for him, what was really involved in his struggle to deal with the gradual disappearance of his father through the progressive stages of Alzheimer’s. “When dealing with a parent suffering from Alzheimer’s, you have to adjust not just to become a caregiver but also a ‘lovegiver,’” Shriver said.

The Family of Brooke Burgher Gibbs

Honorary Chairs: The Family of Brooke Burgher Gibbs

After losing her beloved grandmother to Alzheimer’s disease, Brooke became very involved with the Alzheimer’s Association dedicating time to raise awareness and funds through her Walk to End Alzheimer’s® team, Grand Stands for a Cure.

In June 2017, Brooke tragically passed away at the age of 29. Her family asked for memorial donations to support her 2017 Walk team, raising $135,000, making Brooke the number three Walker in the nation. Her legacy serves as an inspiration for younger generations to join the fight against Alzheimer’s.
